What are your hobbies or other interests that get you away from the stress of writing?
Photography and Crime Science. I have a degree in Forensic Science, and I’m really into how crimes are solved.
(Starla) A degree in Forensic Science…that’s great! My degree is in Gerontology, not nearly as interesting.
How long have you been writing?
My entire life. Wrote my first story at the age of six.
(Starla) It seems like most of the writers I’ve interviewed started when they were in elementary school.
What is your main writing genre?
How and why did you decide to use a pen name?
Because of my family, work, and the fact that I write stories with erotic content.
Do you have more than one?
Yes. I write my poetry and less controversial works under the name of C. Highsmith-Hooks, which is a variation of my given name.
What two things do you wish you had known before you started writing?
That promotion is harder than writing the book, and that the writing process is not easy.
(Starla) I agree completely on both counts.
Describe your working environment.
My work environment is usually in my home office, or on the living room sofa. But I also write in the car on lunch breaks, and I keep a pad by the bed for those middle-of-the-night creative jolts.
(Starla) A writer definitely needs to be flexible about the when and where we do our work.
Do you write a story clear to the end before doing more than simple editing?
I try to write as much as possible before editing. But I find myself making little changes during the writing process. I’ve never written beginning to middle to end; I skip around a lot.
Is there anything unusual about your writing habits?
I write in bits and pieces. Rarely do I write beginning to middle to end.
(Starla) I’ve heard about other authors writing that way, but I don’t think I could skip around. I’m a linear thinker and go from point A to point Z.
How do you get beyond writer’s block?
I start another project, and follow that creativity until I feel unblocked, then I get back to the original project.
What do you come up with first in starting a story: Title? Characters? Plot? Setting? Conflict?
I’ve started a story with all of these. Sometimes, a title really gets me, and I write to that. Or a character will pop in my mind through dialogue or a certain physical appearance.
Do you have a writing schedule?
Because I work full-time outside the home, I don’t have the luxury of a writing schedule. Sometimes, I write for lunch break, and other days, I lock myself inside and just write.
How do you juggle writing, family, work, and life’s surprises?
It’s hard juggling all those things, but I manage a lot better now that my son is in college, and other than work, my time is pretty much my own.
How do you promote your books and yourself as an author?
I attend book signings, events, and venues as they present themselves. I plan to start doing feature appearances at workshops, conferences, etc. to develop an income stream from that in addition to the royalties from book sales.

What is unique to this particular book?
This book is a unique collection of erotic stories about all types of people: husbands and wives; best friends; total strangers who meet online, etc. It was written by two authors who never met until it was time to publish. We used e-mail, Skype, text messages, and voicemail to write the stories in the book.
Did you have a favorite character in this book?
I really liked Camille, the narrator and voyeur who gets to watch all the action. And tell the reader about it.
Will there be any sequels to this book?
Dreama and I are thinking about writing a sequel, but we haven’t decided yet.
Camille works hard. But when she steps out of her stilettos, this sexy video voyeur embraces her erotic side by peeking in on the fantasies of others who are bold enough to live them out.
Come along with Camille as she gets “Turned On and Turned Out,” runs into an unexpected “Detour,” celebrates “Nika’s Birthday,” and scratches her “Sophomore Itch” – all in the same night.
It’s ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ as couples, threesomes, and total strangers explore their fantasies while Camille watches. And what Camille sees, Camille tells. Her camera doesn’t lie.

Leilani knocked on the door.
“C’mon in,” a sexy voice said. It was Asia.
Leilani was turned on by Asia’s power and her style. She had no idea why the club owner would give someone like her the time of day, but she was flattered just the same.“Tony said you requested me,” Leilani said, lying her bag beside the stage.
“I sure did,” Ms. Styles said, flirtaciously winking at Leilani.
“Ms. Styles,” Leilani said. She began to talk.
“No. No stop right there,” interrupted Ms. Styles. “Tonight, you can call me Asia.”
“Asia,” Leilani corrected herself. “Why me? I haven’t been working here as long as some of the others.”
“Lei. May I call you Lei?” Asia asked as she motioned Leilani to take a seat.
“Yes, you my call me Lei. Everyone else around here calls me that.”
Leilani couldn’t help but stare at Asia’s beautiful smooth brown complexion and luscious lips. Her eyes followed Asia’s mouth as Asia spoke in a calm, sensuous and soothing voice.
The VIP was Asia’s playground. You had to be one of the best in the business to get the chance to dance for her. Your mind, body and most importantly, your swag had to be on point. Otherwise, Asia wouldn’t give you a second look. She chose her dancers like she chose her men and fine wine-only the best, and price was never an option.
Asia continued. “I have been watching you for some time now, and I notice that you’re a very reserved person. Except when you’re onstage. Then you let go of all your inhibitions.”
Leilani’s eyes went back to Asia’s mouth. She bit down on her lip wishing it was Asia’s.
“There’s just something about you,” Asia said. “You’re so much bigger than this place. But for right now, all I want is for you to dance for me.”
Asia nodded to the deejay to start the music. On cue, Leilani began moving slowly and sensually with the music. She seemed to get lost inside her head. Asia turned her on. She felt her body heat rise as Asia watched her every move. Fantasizing about Asia, Leilani closed her eyes and slowly began taking off her clothes.
Asia watched intensely as Leilani did her thing. Feeling herself getting aroused, she removed her Prada jacket. She could feel the head of her clit protruding through her silk nylons.
“Leilani, come dance for me,” Asia said while sipping on a dirty martini.
The young woman stepped to the edge of the stage where Asia was sitting.
“I thought you’d never ask.” Leilani said.
